NCATE Panel Calls for Turning Teacher Education “Upside Down.”By Diana Wehrell-Grabowski on November 23, 2010 in Teacher Training Workshops
A national expert panel composed of education experts and critics called for teacher education to be “turned upside down” by revamping programs to place clinical practice at the center of teacher preparation. The new vision of preparation will require the development of partnerships with school districts in which teacher education becomes a shared responsibility between P-12 schools and higher education. Eight states including: California; Colorado; Maryland; New York; Ohio; Oregon; and Tennessee have committed to implementing teacher education reform based on the NCATE panel recommendations.
